Terms
Terms of Service
Last updated: August 5, 2026
These terms describe how h4cker.app should be used. h4cker is an independent Hacker News reading client. It is not affiliated with Hacker News or Y Combinator, and it does not operate its own public social network or first-party user-generated content community.
What h4cker is
h4cker displays publicly available Hacker News stories and comments for reading, translation, summarization, and personal saving. Content you see in feeds and discussions is authored on Hacker News. h4cker does not create that discussion and is not the publisher of Hacker News posts.
Use of h4cker
Use h4cker for reading, translating, summarizing, saving, and optionally discussing Hacker News content through a linked Hacker News account. Do not abuse the service, attack the infrastructure, or use automated behavior that harms Hacker News or h4cker.
Zero tolerance for objectionable content
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Do not submit hate speech, harassment, threats, sexual content involving minors, spam, or other abusive material through h4cker. Accounts that violate this rule may be suspended or deleted.
Hacker News actions
When you connect Hacker News, h4cker can submit votes and comments only when you trigger those actions. Those posts are submitted to Hacker News and remain subject to Hacker News rules. You are responsible for what you post.
Reporting, blocking, and moderation
You can flag objectionable Hacker News content and block Hacker News authors inside h4cker. Blocking removes that author's content from your feed and discussions immediately and notifies the developer. We review reports and act within 24 hours by hiding abusive content in the app and suspending or removing the offending h4cker account when the abuse came through h4cker. h4cker cannot delete content from news.ycombinator.com.
AI output
AI summaries, translations, explanations, recommendations, and digests are reading aids. They can be incomplete or wrong. Check original sources when accuracy matters.
Subscriptions
Paid features depend on your active plan and billing provider status. Subscription management and payments are handled through the configured billing provider.
Account deletion
You can delete your h4cker account from Settings. Deletion removes your h4cker account data from our systems. It does not delete posts you made on Hacker News.
Changes
h4cker is evolving. Features, limits, and terms may change as the product develops.
