One point that I haven't seen mentioned here is that deaths that happen outside of the event boundaries are not "counted." For example, if someone is medevac'ed and dies en route or in a Reno hospital, the event organizers don't include that fatality in their count. There may be a distinction as to who is legally allowed to declare someone dead, and whether that can occur on-playa. Road fatalities of participants on their way to and from the event are also not counted .

I like git-notes (https://git-scm.com/docs/git-notes) for this sort of annotations and context. It's a nice balance - adjacent to commits, follows branch structure, easy to instrument, doesn't muddy the commit history. Being able to stick a bit of directive text somewhere durable at any point in time has been surprisingly convenient for steering LLMs, as well.

Hard to give it any merit given that the website’s design is all over the place on mobile. Even simple alignments (like items that clearly should’ve been centred) look off. And not only that but you have to really try to find any proper mentions of what this actually is. This landing page feels like it was the result of a single prompt thrown at Claude Design (or similar) without any further thoughts given. I really don’t see any added value provided by this that AIs don’t already do via the already very good CSS+HTML+JS skills they feature by default.

Warning! I'm not a neuroscience expert, but I'm super eager to understand how the brain works and processes information. I follow lots of resources from Andrew Huberman. From my neuroscience research, the brain starts learning when you try to use what you read and feed it to your mind. Consequently, when you try to connect the gaps between different pieces of knowledge, some Synapses get created in your brain, which is awesome. That's when you really start learning things. In fact, we call these new synapses knowledge. So, today, as a Software Engineering PhD student and developer, I wanna bridge a gap between two areas of knowledge I have.

Man, that was a tough read. Author writes as if they’re more impressed by what they are saying than you could ever be. Feels exhausting. Fun project, but the blog trivializes ML. I suspect any positive results here are due to training on the test set. (Their training data collection script uses their feed, which is then also used for the slop detector demo vid.) Expect performance to deteriorate if this is corrected, or simply over the coming weeks if not.

I saw a bunch of denim jackets (with size options on the listings, usually indicating significant stock on hand, not just someone selling a couple used items) in four or five styles from a manufacturer I'm interested in show up on eBay at a bit under half retail price a couple months back. Big discount, but not suspiciously low for overstock or maybe someone selling seconds and lying about them not having defects. From what I can tell, some of these brands that rarely have sales at all and never steep ones either sell would-be steep-sale material directly on ebay (without publicizing it) or wholesale it in lots to people who turn around and put it on ebay, so a bunch of new stock for one brand showing up from a single seller all at once isn't that weird. So I bought one. About a week and a half passes, and no update on ebay regarding the shipping. I've had this happen once or twice before and the thing just eventually shows up, so I'm not too worried, but I am approaching the point of being worried. Around that time, the seller sends me a message that their... warehouse burned down. So I should cancel the order because they can't fulfill it. WTF. I am like 95% sure this was some kind of scam or hustle from the beginning, but I haven't been able to figure out how. I got my money back. What gives? Maybe... some kind of drop-shipping thing that fell through, or they got a line on some counterfeits or "fell off a truck" stock but with limited info on what was actually in the batch, and weren't able to fulfill all the orders they took? I remain puzzled.

Correct, apk developers could really benefit using this, if they want to go secure by design and also if they just want to test functionalities out on the go. The client apk can be installed on whatever emulator, the device needs to be rooted, thats the only requirement, which makes sense

A lot of people do notice and feel the same pain that you feel. I believe that this tool is gonna help the QA Engineers as well, since their day to day does include that same workflow. Would definitely recommend this on my feed

"The Making of the Atomic Bomb" by Richard Rhodes is a particularly engaging read. Rhodes manages to record history as a character-driven story without sacrificing detailed elements of physical chemistry and - at times - philosophy. His treatment of Szilard and Bohr is outstanding. I also recently finished "A Cage Went in Search of a Bird", which is an anthology of Kafka-esque short stories. I'd recommend it if only for reading "God's Doorbell" (which imagines swarm-behavior RSI building the Tower of Babel).

Credentials seem to be another big part of this lock-in problem. If an always-on agent has permanent access to all your internal tools, moving agents means moving a huge pile of secrets and permissions too including api integrations you forgot even existed. And as a secondary consequence, imagine you've connected your whole life to your agent and used it for 5 years, and then your agent gets prompt injected. Everything about you/your life is stolen and it's just straight up over
